Into the Wilderness of Ranthambore

Paying a visit to this untamed jungle in the Rajputana State of India is an indispensable experience. People from across the world flock to this destination after giving in to their inquisitiveness of seeing a tiger hunting in its natural habitat. In the Indian subcontinent, it is one of the very few places where you get to see these magical beasts. Close to ‘The Pink City’, Ranthambore is a heavenly adobe for all wildlife enthusiasts.

Since 1955, it is a secure location for all wildlives. However, this was a royal hunting ground once. The Ranthambore Fort, after which the national park is named, was the resting place of the kings. Following the huge decline in the Bengal Tiger population, the Government initiated Project Tiger that was aimed towards the preservation of this endangered species. Since then, the tiger population increased immensely and its name was taken off the endangered species’ list.

Apart from the ferocious tigers, this feral forest homes many other predators like the stealthy leopards and striped Hyenas. Sambar deer, Chital, Nilgais, Langurs, Macaques, Jackals, Jungle cats, Caracals, Sloth bears, Black bucks, Rufoustailed Hares, Indian Wild Boars, and Chinkaras are some other wild animals that reside in this jungle. Ranthambore is a paradise for bird watching as well. More than 300 different species reside in this jungle and people say you can watch as many as 40 different species in a day. Among the biggest attractions are the Indian courses, Painted Spurfowls, Indian Skimmers, Quails, Larks, Prinias, Graylag Geese, Woodpeckers, Indian Gray Hornbills, Common Kingfishers, Bee Eaters, Cuckoos, Parakeets, Asian Palm Swifts, Owls, Nightjars, Pigeons, Doves, and many more. So, it is the quintessential location in India for wildlife photography.

The jeep safari is an amazing experience that gives you a better opportunity to witness these tigers. People recommend booking a Ranthambore resort and paying a visit there in between January and March as the temperature is considerably bearable than the warmer months. This gives a better opportunity to witness a tiger as well. You can try visiting during the colder months but often, most things are not visible due to fog and park remains closed during the monsoons.

The Ranthambore tiger reserve is one of the biggest national parks in India that home these mystical Bengal Tigers. To satiate your curiosity of watching the Tigers, pay a visit to this part of the country and mesmerize in the solitude that the forest is bestowed with. It is a truly enthralling experience.
